Apo­lo­gies for last week’s lack of news… here’s twice as much this week to make up for it!

The Academy Is…‘s Wil­liam Beck­ett has star­ted work on writ­ing for their fourth album.

Bren­don Urie of Panic! At The Disco has told the world that the gui­tar and bass tracks for the new album are now com­plete, and Spen­cer says that the drums are done too.

Mat­thew Leone of Mad­ina Lake has been ser­i­ously injured. He inter­vened in a domestic argu­ment to stop a woman get­ting beaten by her boy­friend. He suffered some pretty heavy blows to the head, and the doc­tor had to cut out some of his skull to release the pres­sure. He is get­ting bet­ter, but the band have no med­ical insur­ance. You can con­trib­ute towards his med­ical bills here. The man in ques­tion has been arres­ted, but so far has not been charged with the attack on Leone.

The Social Net­work, a film inspired by Face­book, will have a soundtrack by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails and How To Des­troy Angels.

Sum 41’s tour bus driver was drunk in charge the other night, and almost caused a very ser­i­ous acci­dent. The band fired him on the spot. You can read more here.

Meg & Dia have com­pleted their new album without the help of auto-tune, accord­ing to this tweet.

MC Lars released his Twenty Three EP this week, in memory of his room­mate from col­lege who com­mit­ted sui­cide four years ago.

Jim Lind­berg of Pennywise’s new band The Black Pacific are gear­ing up for a release on the 14th Septem­ber. Lind­berg left Penny­wise in Feb­ru­ary, and was replaced by Zoli Teglas. You can down­load a sampler from their web­site.

Bad Reli­gion will release their new album on Septem­ber 28th, entitled “The Dis­sent Of Man”.

The Hymn Of A Broken Man will be released in Septem­ber by Times of Grace, a band com­pris­ing mem­bers of Kill­switch Engage both past and present.

Mae’s ori­ginal line-up will be re-uniting for an up-coming tour.

Peter Quaife, formerly of the Kinks, has unfor­tu­nately died after a long battle with renal problems.

Punch­line will release their album Delight­fully Pleased jointly with Mod­ern Short Stor­ies (their own label) and TDR on 10th August.

Tom DeLonge has announced that work on new music from blink-182 has begun.
